Common Questions

Orthotists, prosthetists, orthotic and/or prosthetic facilities, case managers, rehabilitation counselors, insurance companies, patients, hospitals, orthotic-prosthetic schools, therapists, physicians, government agencies, orthotic/prosthetic surgical supply companies, veterinary physicians, rehabilitation centers, and orthotic/prosthetic manufacturers could benefit from one or more of these services.
An orthotic-prosthetic facility may receive requests from patients or attorneys for an orthotic-prosthetic needs analysis for a patient’s lifetime use of an orthosis or prosthesis and they would prefer to have another professional provide the service. In addition, an orthotic-prosthetic facility may have a need to develop a quality assessment and improvement plan or have a need for expert evaluation/testimony pertaining to a product, service, or billing practice.
No. Testimony is based on the consultant’s thorough evaluation of the particular case, product, or service. The consultant’s goal is to conduct a fair and reasonable evaluation/assessment of the case, product, or service before expert testimony is provided.
The duration of completing the service depends upon the complexity of the project. For example, a needs analysis for a 52-year old unilateral below-knee amputee would require much less time than a request from a large facility needing a clinical audit or the development of a quality assessment and improvement plan. A needs analysis averages 10-20 hours, whereas a Q.A.I. plan could take several days (20-40 hours) over a period of weeks to possibly months.
The cost will correlate to the services provided. The fee for each service is based on the difficulty or intricacy of the project. For example, the development of a quality assessment and improvement plan is at the low end per hour and expert evaluation/testimony is at the high end per hour of the fees. Projects extending beyond 40 hours are negotiable.
